Welcome to Silversaga Patterns!

We're excited to have you as a potential tester! This agreement protects both your rights and our patterns while we work together to create great sewing patterns. These Terms of Service ("TOS") govern your use of our testing platform. By accessing or using our platform, you agree to these terms.

1. Eligibility

To use our platform:

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must provide accurate and truthful information during the application process.
  • You must have basic sewing skills appropriate for the pattern difficulty level.

2. Testing Process Overview

Here's how testing works:

  1. Apply with measurements and optional photos of previous makes
  2. Receive acceptance and testing timeline (typically 2 weeks)
  3. Download pattern files
  4. Create toile if required, make adjustments
  5. Sew final garment
  6. Submit photos and feedback via our platform
  7. Receive final pattern when released

3. Application Process Terms

When you apply to become a tester:

  • You grant us permission to review and store your measurements and portfolio photos for evaluation purposes
  • Application photos are automatically deleted after 14 days (as per our Privacy Policy)
  • We may use your measurement data to select diverse testers for each pattern
  • There is no guarantee of selection as a tester
  • By applying, you agree to these Terms of Service should you be selected
  • We will notify you via email whether you are selected or not for a testing opportunity

Your application data:

  • Remains confidential and is used solely for tester selection
  • Will not be shared with third parties
  • Can be deleted upon request at any time

4. Tester Responsibilities and Requirements

By participating as a tester, you agree to:

4.1 Information and Communication:

  • Provide accurate body measurements and sizing information
  • Notify us immediately if you cannot meet testing deadlines

4.2 Testing Requirements:

  • Complete all required test garments within the specified timeframe (communicated at test start)
  • Follow all provided instructions carefully
  • Complete a toile (test garment in inexpensive fabric) when specified before making the final garment
  • Submit clear, well-lit photos that show garment fit. We typically need front, back, and side views, but we can work with you if you have specific needs or concerns
  • Photos must clearly show garment fit (face may be cropped/obscured for privacy)

4.3 Feedback and Confidentiality:

  • Provide honest, constructive feedback through all questionnaires
  • Keep all pattern files and testing materials strictly confidential
  • Not share patterns, instructions, or testing information with non-testers
  • Not sell, distribute, or publish any testing materials

4.4 Conduct:

  • Maintain professional, respectful communication
  • Not upload inappropriate content (including but not limited to offensive, discriminatory, or explicit material)
  • Respect other testers' privacy and work

5. Content Rights and Usage

5.1 Ownership

You retain full ownership and copyright of all images and content you submit. By participating as a tester, you grant us specific limited licenses as outlined below.

5.2 Image Submission and Usage

Required License for Testing Purposes: By submitting images as part of the testing process, you allow us to keep and use them internally for:

  • Pattern fitting evaluation and analysis
  • Pattern development and improvement
  • Internal documentation of pattern iterations
  • Quality control and testing records

Optional License for Marketing:

  • We will never use your images for marketing, social media, promotional materials, or public display without your explicit written consent
  • Marketing consent can be granted or denied when you submit your final testing photos via a simple checkbox
  • You may revoke marketing permission at any time for future use by emailing info@silversagapatterns.com
  • If marketing permission is granted, you will be credited using your preferred name/handle

5.3 Confidentiality

All pattern files, instructions, and testing materials are confidential and proprietary. You agree not to share, distribute, copy, or reproduce any testing materials outside the testing platform.

6. Intellectual Property Protection

  • All Silversaga Patterns designs, instructions, and materials are protected by copyright
  • Testers receive a limited license to use patterns solely for testing purposes
  • Commercial use of test patterns is strictly prohibited
  • Violation of IP rights may result in legal action and termination from the platform

7. Common Situations

  • Can't finish? Life happens! Just notify us at info@silversagapatterns.com
  • Need to adjust for fit? Please do! We encourage adjustments for your best fit, just document all changes in your feedback as this helps us improve the pattern
  • Accidentally shared something? Tell us immediately so we can help resolve it
  • Questions? We're always here to help during your test

8. Disclaimer and Acknowledgment of Risks

By using this platform, you acknowledge that you are solely responsible for your personal safety during sewing and testing activities. Silversaga Patterns is not liable for any injuries, accidents, or damages that may occur. You agree to follow appropriate safety practices.

9. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the platform if:

  • You violate these terms
  • You submit inappropriate content or behave disruptively
  • You miss testing deadlines without communication
  • You breach confidentiality requirements

Except for serious violations, we will provide one warning before termination. Either party may terminate the testing relationship at any time. Upon termination, you must delete all pattern files and cease use immediately.

10. Tester Rights and Benefits

After Testing Completion:

  • You receive free access to test patterns
  • You will receive the final pattern upon release
  • You have the right to be credited when we use your images (with your consent)

Sharing Your Work:

  • During testing: You may share "sneak peek" photos (detail shots, work-in-progress) but NOT full garment photos or pattern pieces without prior written consent
  • After testing: You may share full photos of your completed garments on personal social media (without showing pattern pieces or instructions) only after the date communicated during the testing period

11. Data and Privacy

Your use of the platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which outlines how we collect and manage your data.

12. Limitation of Liability

Silversaga Patterns provides patterns and instructions in good faith, but results may vary. We are not responsible for platform misuse, data loss, injuries, or variations in results. Our liability is limited to providing platform access on an "as-is" basis.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these TOS periodically. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of any updated terms. We will notify active testers of significant changes via email.
